Absolutely free, and worth the trip. Take your time and read the history and philosophy of Col. Sanders. Enjoy!
I live about a quarter mile, from my great uncles store and can have anything i wànt
It was nice to see the oringal kfc restaurant.food here is good love kfc and very friendly staff.
A flash in the past. Great tasting Chicken brings back memories! The way all the Kentucky Fried Chicken places should be.
The OG of Sanders Cafe. Granted the first KFC franchise was started in Utah but the Sanders Cafe was the first invention of this chain. A little bit of history items in the front. Really showed the old days feel. I would probably visit again if I was in the area.
Really cool to see the original KFC . You gotta eat here... very good.
Easy access. Well inventoryed. I was in and out before 8pm yesterday.
For this being the first KFC you would think the corporation would put a little more effort into showcasing this restaurant. The food was good and seemed to have bigger portions.
They advertise chicken and waffle sandwiches but didnt know they sold it or how to make it! The pop machine had carbonated water coming out for just plain water! I would give props to the museum though nice little piece of history to see.
Unexpected find on a trip but well worth the time to see.
The best KFC we have ever had!! So well cooked and prepared, didn’t come out looking like slop. The museum was also really cool and Interesting. They also seemed to have a selection of sauces no where else does. Amazing!
It was a very interesting trip! We learned a lot about the man behind the chicken. The one criticism: I purchased a recipe booklet of the colonel's favorite recipes, and it didn't include the famous fried chicken! I have been told I shouldn't have expected this, so no effect on the score, just a warning in case anyone else is operating under the same assumption I was.
Really good food (like the Colonel always has!) !! There are all kinds of souvenirs they sell and there is a statue of the Colonel sitting on a bench that you can get a picture with. The museum is very informative and very cool at the same time. They have so much about the Colonel. This is the best KFC in my opinion. There is just something special about eating in the original KFC. Totally recommend coming here and eating. Great place to eat !!
Fun little roadside stop...and while you're there....finger lickin' good!
Awesome experience! It was quaint...cute artifacts all around. Good food and service!
Well worth 15 minutes or more if you are hungry. Sanders was a very interesting guy.
Good food for a kfc..and fun little place for chicken fans.
This was such a fun little pit stop on a road trip we took recently. It was really neat to see all of the memorabilia and to learn more about Mr. Sanders business model and how Kentucky Fried Chicken all began. You can see the original kitchen and learn about the man himself! It’s a little bit of a drive off the interstate but I think it was worth it. Make sure to get a picture of you sitting with Colonel Sanders. Kind of a fun photo opportunity!
Under renovation Will come back when redone
I love this stop. The food and service are great. The museum is free. This was my third visit. (I travel from South Carolina to Michigan.) I still enjoy taking the detour to go here.
We thought it would be cool to see the birthplace of KFC. Stopped here for lunch and it was a disappointment. I suspect Harland Sanders would be embarrassed of how rundown the place is. The details and history were interesting. But the cafe was dirty and needs some care. The chicken wasn't the best. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing: chicken breast and wing? But it was dry and lacked the delicious flavor I recall from yesteryear. The wedges and biscuit as well as the slaw....all good and fresh. Too bad aboit the chicken, tho.
Neat Museum, I miss the original recipe that used to make there now it's a KFC. But it's a neat little place to see!
Found this place to be very interesting..clean facility..great food..friendly service
Loved it! Great food and service. And we loved the history of it and getting to look around.
Have visited on several occasions over the past few years. They've done some upgrades. We love the livers there. We last visited about 6pm on a Monday and ordered 2 liver dinners, a 2 PC. chicken dinner, and a pot pie. Son complained his chicken and wedges were barely warm, but our mashed potatoes and livers were on point. The biscuits were good. The pot pie had no comments. There were only a few other patrons, the place was mostly clean although the drink machine could use a cleaning and tables wiped down. Bathrooms were stocked. The museum/dining area was neat with many original artifacts from the original cafe and motel along with stories and info. Many photo ops here including a full size Colonel Sanders. Employees were friendly. The restaurant side was modern.
Pretty cool place. Thanks for letting me in to see ya boi
Try not to turn your nose up at this one, just go with it. Yes, it's kitschy and a bit tired, but it is somewhat charming and interesting, especially if you appreciate a good story and a little history. If you're going to stop in Corbin for a re-fuel, stretch, and a bite to eat - take a few minutes and check it out.
Nice piece of history preserved not far off I-75. Unfortunately, the food is the standard KFC of today and not cafe style service anymore. Worth the side trip and fill your hunger pangs as well.
Loved it!!!! The original KFC and I found it like a treasure chest. Was super cool to look around and i actually talked the ol Colonel into takin a quick photo with me.
We spent 30 minutes yesterday and 45 more today walking through and reading everything. I spent my childhood at the Sanders altar. So cool learning more about him along with the special series on the History Channel last month. And I saw the bundt cake!!! Had to get a couple to bring for the long drive home.
Cafe and museum were closed for renovations but it was posted as open on Google (probably the drive thru hours) and the website link rerouted to the KFC official site. The drive thru is the only thing open until September 2020, and they forgot the gravy on one of our mashed potatoes and didn't give us any plastic ware. Huge disappointment.
Lil guy at counter was amazing and so perky and happy... He deserves a raise for bringing so much joy to peoples lives...
We are visiting from Paducah KY and had so much fun. We also recently visited Colonel Sanders resting place. It was amazing to learn his history and the history of KFC.
It’s been a long time since I had KFC.Decided to visit the first ever one on a short road trip. Was not disappointed at all. The quality was oddly amazing, and the service was pretty fast despite a long line. The Colonel knew how to make same good chicken.
The best experience I've ever had at a KFC the staff made me and my family feel special and we're beyond helpful. The museum part is really cool. It's like your eating on a piece of history.
The building is being renovated and many original aspects are being removed or changed.
This was worth the stop with kids. My daughter loves eating with "the big white man". It was really neat to see his first kitchen and learn more about him. It is not a huge museum (only 4 exhibits) but worth the drive of the highway during a roadtrip.
The restaurant was under construction. So drive thru only
Everytime we got to corbin, ky we visit the original KFC. It's so neat walking around and looking at the older stuff. Awesome place .
I love the unique vibe of the place. The staff are nice and friendly. The food tastes amazing! They are also at an affordable price.
The place is getting pretty rundown as it gets older. Cashiers are also kinda rude.
We live in Ohio, one of our stops was going to visit here. The place is under major construction. All you can do is go through the drive through. This is July 10th 2020.
I got a thirty dollar fill up box and asked for the mashed potatoes and coleslaw to be subbed with Macaroni and green beans. The macaroni was old, the two containers were barely half full, the green beans might have been a third of the way full. For over thirty dollars, there are much better options in Corbin. Also, why are buckets concreted to the new construction??
I'm touring Kentucky, and this was one of the stops on my trip. But after reading the reviews, with pictures, it doesnt seem legit enough of a museum or restaurant to visit. Which is kind of sad, because one would think such an iconic representation of the state, would be more of an attraction and not just some rundown cafe museum, in need of the renovations its being put through.
It was like I stepped into a time machine and Such a wonderful experience
Me and my beat friend of 40+ years stopped by here on the way back from Cumberland great nostalgia
Birthplace of KFC. Loved seeing Harland Sanders original kitchen, but no recipe was shown. Had a model motel room, from back in the day. Model of the area showed that there was once a restaurant, motel and gas station.
We visited there recently. Only drive thru was opened may be bcz of Covid-19 and some kind of construction work. Ordered 6pc wings, leg piece and coleslaw. Wings pcs were too dry and there was no spoon or fork for coleslaw. they also didn't gave any napkin in the packet. Hope they will remind this things latter.
For this to be where it all started, the holy Grail of chicken, I think they could provide better service!
Wow it's a wonderful experience to see the old kitchen and other items preserved very nicely. Food is also amazing.
It was cool because it was when it all started... That was the only good thing. It is a regular KFC with a few pieces, not enough to call a museum. Just over all it was a let down and we had no expectations for the place.
The best chicken and biscuits I've ever had. Just like grandma's from Harlan County, Ky.
